I AM at a loss to even begin to think why someone would suggest a garden over the M8. When will the council wake up and join the real world. We have job cuts at the city council and all over the country, kids will be spending Christmas in poverty and people are struggling for work.

The garden idea should be a non-starter.

SO Sauchiehall Street is to be transformed into a tree-lined avenue? I seem to recall a similar proposal a couple of years ago which failed to come to fruition. Hopefully this time the city council's "decision-making executive committee" will live up to its name by actually putting a plan into action. However, given their track record, I won't hold my breath waiting to see the bold vision of a park over the M8 anytime soon.

MAYBE Glasgow City Council should consider catching up on road and street maintenance in the parts of the city which have been very badly neglected for years. They are now turning into ghettos instead of wasting money which it would appear that they don't have on this.

WHAT a lovely gesture from Aberdeen Asset Management to fund cinema screening at the children's hospital.

It must be a real thrill for the youngsters. some of whom are gravely ill, to have a little taste of normality.

While they might not be able to go to the cinema, at least they can enjoy a night at the big screen.

REGARDING the Tories claiming the education attainment gap getting wider,

the reason for the gap in attainment is mainly because of the family.

I have met so many parents that couldn't care less about their kids education. They are running about the streets late at night, their parents don't know where they are. They are allowed to bunk off school, don't do homework and play computer games all night. These children are not being brought up properly and become a really bad influence over the children with potential, which becomes lost potential as they are dragged down to the same level.
