SCOTTISH and UK leaders are such hypocrites.

They are condemning Donald Trump for saying what he believes and branding him a racist. While I might not agree with some of what he says, at least he stood up and spoke his mind.

We have people in the UK condemning Christian beliefs and they don’t get condemned as racist.

Stop being two faced and start standing up for Christian people in a Christian country.

The UK and Scottish heads should stand up for The Christians in this country or are we the minority now?

I WOULD like to take the opportunity to say a huge thank you to players of People’s Postcode Lottery in Scotland on behalf of the the Royal Voluntary Service.

They have helped raise funds to help tackle loneliness and isolation amongst older people this year.

Thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery our volunteers have been able to help hundreds of older people across Scotland.

The funds players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised mean that more volunteers can be there for older people who might be feeling lonely or isolated, more older people can be helped to get out to shops and medical appointments and there are more activities in the community where older people can get together.

So, from everyone at Royal Voluntary Service, thank you and Merry Christmas.

READING the story about the Garnethill flats (Evening Times, Wednesday), I've lived in Garnethill many years.

This particular piece of land was greenery, a good place to go walking through, a place to relax in the summer and somewhere to take the kids out for a wee game of football a place for picnic.

Now we have.the buildings on it with a bit of ground left which we want to keep.

The original planning did not have this new application on it in fact they were refused before on a planning application.

As a close multicultural community we are all happy, we practically know each other and having an open space at this location helps blending.

If the photograph used in the article on Garnethill is an indication of the present condition of the site, I can well understand why the residents are so opposed to any development.

It would be very difficult to find a better example of dereliction and neglect, to say nothing of the modern street art adorning the adjacent brickwork.
