OUR readers have taken to our website to express their sorrow that MacSorley's pub is to close.

Here is what they said:

TREMENDOUS windows. Hope whoever takes over will keep them. I’ve a hunch the whole building will be demolished. Another loss.

I HAVE a lot of memories on McSorleys going back to the sixties...were me & the mates made it our watering hole before heading out to the dancing...it was not a place for the faint hearted...to describe it at the time..it was like walking into the wild west...or fight night at the old coral...still served a good pint.

REGARDS your story on the mum who said she'd rather be dead than suffer in Glasgow's new hospital, the problem is they are so short staffed.

I applied for about three jobs for auxiliary nurse and was turned down. I really don't know what they want. I have been a carer for 10 years and was fully qualified to do the job.

I WAS shocked but not surprised to hear about the tragedy of the old lady. How many more will die or suffer in this nightmare place called a flagship hospital. As a retired nurse I recall it working perfectly with two matrons and one administrator plus book keeping staff. The other hospitals with beds to use are being closed and sold to developers. Someone got it right when they remarked an SNP vote was a Tory vote. The buck must stop with our health minister and First Minister who appointed her. The staff are not to blame.

DELIGHTED to see another new flight route from Glasgow. Cornwall will be a good addition and not just for Scots travelling south. We might get a knock on tourist effect with visitors coming north.

These links can only be good for business and tourism. It really is becoming a smaller world.

I WAS pleases the Evening Times was once again launching the Community Champion awards.

It is a great thing for the city and I have to thank the Evening Times for their efforts in bringing community life to the fore.

We are always hearing about celebs who are supposed to be doing great things.

The special gongs are always full of TV presenters and soap stars. Well now it is time for the real unsung heroes to shine and get the recognition they deserve.
