NEWS that Glasgow’s Clyde Tunnel is facing a £26m repair bill sparked reaction.

THE list of repairs required to the Clyde tunnel makes for sobering reading.

Lighting, electrical systems, and ventilation buildings are described as “insecure” or “liable to fail”.

Glasgow City Council can’t fund these crucial repairs on its own.

The Scottish Government must contribute to the tunnel’s repairs and ongoing upkeep.

Otherwise it faces another Forth Road Bridge fiasco and potentially, and far worse, puts Glasgow’s commuters lives at risk.

I HAVE just learned through the media that there are proposals to erect a statue of Billy Connolly in George Square.

What utter nonsense!

What has he ever done to receive this accolade? Nothing, in my opinion.

If the F word and gutter language were obsolete, Connolly would be speechless.

Why don’t they erect a statue to Sir Alexander Fleming, who discovered penicillin, or Andrew Carnegie, who donated millions to Scottish charities.

What will Connolly be mentioned for next? A knighthood?!

THE story about teenagers threatening to shot a fox sparked anger from some readers.

HOW cruel can some people get?

I just had to write to say that the face of that fox haunted me.

There’s something evil about terrorising any living thing.

Can’t these people realise even animals have a right to live their lives.

Well done to the police and RSPCA. I’m glad to see saving a wee fox is in the line of your duty!

You’re in St Francis’ good books and mine.

READERS reacted to news that Glasgow City Council faces the prospect of widespread industrial action as details of cuts to staff working conditions to save £4.5m, axing overtime and flexible hours.

FLEXI time can be a benefit to employers if workers are delayed by a broken down train etc.

I just hope this change will not be an excuse for a raft of disciplinary hearings for anyone who is late.

However, flexi can be easily abused by staff who clock watch their way to extra holidays.

SCOTLAND didn't vote Conservative and didn't want to see George Osborne's policies.

Now we have a London govt reducing the capital amount to the Scottish Govt who in turn are squeezing the councils by cutting their expenditure.

Sadly it appears that the ones who will feel the brunt are the lowest paid.

I hope Unison put up a fight for their members.
