We reported how Glasgow transport chiefs are considering scrapping free parking in electric car charging bays.

Here's what our readers thought:

Why do they have to charge (no pun intended) for the spaces, keep them free, but limit the amount of time you can park in them to three hours, so you have to still get a ticket to indicate what time you arrived, ok its still open to abuse, but by charging for the space the council are discouraging use and slyly making a bit of money.

The chargers say how long you have been there. There is no need to charge people to charge there. Limit to four hours, so you can actually get a full charge.

Bristol and Milton Keynes are going to allow free parking across the city in non EV spaces so people can charge and move on. That is a great way to advertise. Better than always seeing EV's plugged in. Why is Glasgow going backwards? They started so well.

And oh yes you bet CityParking are watching closely, they will start charging at the same time and probably announce it the same week.

The scheme seemed to be a victim of it's own success. But it is clear to see that when the vast majority of drivers have electric cars the scheme would become overwhelmed and defunct.

I NOTE the councils effort in trying to fix the potholes in Glasgow. If I do my mathematics right, spending £75 m over 6 years on 70000, equates to roughly £1000 per pothole. I know if I was spending money, I would try to get the best quality service, value for money and try to keep the finance within the council budget, not out sourcing it to contractors,

Mr Clean

I'VE had it - when are we going to be sensible and admit that Fastlink is nothing but a waste of money and causes more congestion than it is worth.

Traffic lights from the Squinty Bridge to Govan make it near impossible to get anywhere without sitting a red lights.

As for peak times - surely someone with a bit of sense must realise that we need to change the bridge traffic to allow more cars in both lanes at peak times.

Especially on the nights when there is a gig at the Hydro, there needs to be an allowance made for local traffic to get where they are going as well as visitors.
