THE Brits is watched by people young and old and is always a spectacle. Why oh why, do stars who little music fans look up to feel the need to swear.

It is totally unacceptable and they should think before they open their mouths.

We reported that a rundown shopping arcade in Shawlands is in line for a major makeover after being sold in a multi-million pound deal.

The centre, which has more than 20 units with a number lying empty, has been described as "tired".

This is what our readers thought:

We have heard this a myriad times - and nothing has happened.

There used to be three charity shops in the centre, but even these are leaving and only one remains.

It is a bad scene when even the charity shops shut down.

There are all of these empty shops, yet there is a greengrocers and also a key cutting business operating from stalls inside the arcade.

Surely it would be better if these businesses (which have been there a for a few years at least) were in two of the empty shops? Why aren't they? Is the rent too high?

This is a waste of money. It was refurbished a few years back and it's still full of empty shops.

Shawlands Arcade will never be a success while potential customers have to pay to park in both the arcades car parks and pay to park on Kilmarnock Road.

Who in their right mind would pay for parking in Shawlands Arcade when they can park for free a couple of miles away at either Braehead or Silverburn.

One of the previous posters is correct, it should have been raised to the ground years ago.

Great news for Shawlands and I hope that both Councillor Braat and Ediston will engage with the local community council to discuss a way forward as part of the Shawlands Town Centre Action Plan. I hear the 1 hour free parking in the Arcade may be extended.

FOLLOWING the news that Sandra White's pavement parking bill gets powers transferred from Westminster to Holyrood, I look forward to being able to walk down my road pushing my wee one in her pram without hindrance from those inconsiderate enough to park on the pavement.

I also look forward to seeing those inconsiderate people moaning about getting tickets or being towed because of their parking practices.

I'm not sure which I'm looking forward to the most actually.

A dilemma.
