WONDERFUL news about the Big Lottery funding for Glasgow Women's Aid.

These services are difficult to publicise because there is still so much shame around being involved with an abusive partner and so the work of women's aid organisations often goes unremarked on.

It's a classic example of ignoring something until you need it yourself.

Children are also the overlooked victims of these men who mistreat the women in their life and so the CEDAR project seems like an amazing piece of work that will help children in our city to grow up with happier childhood memories.

LIKE everything else the SNP has failed to do this change ducks the issue.

Council Tax is based on property valuations made over a quarter of a century ago and Nicola Sturgeon does not appear to have any intention of bringing them up to date.

Alternatives to Council Tax have been ducked in favour of an easier option.

Most ludicrously, Scotland - because of the position of Scottish Water - will continue to charge for water and sewage not on any basis related to usage of the services concerned, but on the basis of Council Tax.

I will let my taps run all day to get maximum value.

I live in a flat which has plummeted in value in value since we purchased it 10 years ago and at that time we appealed the Council Tax Banding, which at band G we thought was too high.

Our appeal was denied. So we are expected to dig even deeper to fund Glasgow City Council, which squanders cash on things such as providing cycle lanes at a cost of £21million that very few cyclists use and the upkeep of the pristine Merchant city area whilst some areas of the city who have the same council tax banding are completely neglected in terms of upkeep.

The current method used to band a property for Council Tax is archaic and must be changed to make it a fairer system.

The story about the dog who was left outside a vet's in Glasgow was really shocking.

Those who did this must be banned from keeping animals for life.
