Our refuse collectors, our janitors and other vital employees are having their working conditions slashed, and now we read about large payments for returning officers?

People aren't going to put up with this forever. Pay heed Glasgow City Council the gravy train has to be withdrawn from service..

"The public would find the sums “quite remarkable”? Disgusting is the term I would apply to all our top brass at GCC..

I am surprised no one picked up on the high payments being given to council staff acting as returning officers sooner.

They are still raking obscene amounts while I and many others in ill health pay for essential things like a community alarm in case of falls or emergencies.

I don't suppose in case of a strike they will man the emergency phones. Time to rid the nest of drones.

With regards your story about the Glasgow City Council staff balloting for strike action, this particular change doesn't affect me as I've been on the converted public holidays contract for years.

But I agree, those affected should stand up for themselves.

I couldn't be less proud to work for the organisation, especially in the last year or so.

Well done to those Glasgow City Council staff contemplating strike action for standing up and putting a halt to the tyranny of Glasgow City Council.

Low paid workers - particularly woman - have been short changed for years. Scandalous.
