AFTER reading your story on parents parking on zig zag lines: get the City Council to create a 'school zone' programme - similar to the current 'bus lane' programme, with a painted area in front of the school front.

Any vehicle that enters the zone illegally and is not an authorised school vehicle gets a fine.

That would soon put an end to their selfish behaviour.

WHY isn't City Parking Glasgow issuing tickets to stop drivers parking on the zig zags lines?

Why is the Council so incompetent when it comes to things like this?

They paint the lines and put up the signs but then don't enforce them.

PEOPLE are married to their cars.

There's no clearer sign of this than the risks selfish parents take in stopping on zig zag lines.

They don't care that they are putting children in danger simply because they are too lazy to get out of the car and walk a couple of streets.

Or - gasp! - use public transport.

You have the same level of contempt every time the council talks about putting in new cycle lanes.

Drivers go nuts because they have a level of entitlement and selfishness that makes them think the roads are just for them.

My theory is that they get defensive because they know they are in the wrong and it makes them feel guilty.

WITH regards to the city centre revamp of Sauchiehall Street and Garnethill, part of the proposal is bringing in more trees and open spaces.

This is much welcomed by us all - but only if this council doesn't take it away in two year's time to give to developers.

There are questions about nightlife, which would include more bars and clubs and restaurants.

Well, I'm in favour of the restaurants and shops but not bars and clubs as we already have plenty.

To have more would impact the bars we already have. Also, it would be a massive problem in criminal offences.

I hope these issues are brought up before a decision to go ahead is passed.
