READING about the large cracks appearing up in an East End flat when builders started working on the cafe below, (Evening Times August 2), if no permission has been granted for these alterations, surely the council should be taking a proactive approach to this breach of regulations.

We don’t want another disaster like what happen to the listed building in the West End recently.

IN relation to the story about football fans being reassured that a replacement bus service can cope with match-day demand, (Evening Times August 2), First Bus used to run a bus that went from near the subway and straight in to town.

They also ran one to Patrick and they should bring this back even when the subway goes back on.

DURING the referendum, the SNP claimed that we would be better off out of the rule of Westminster, and most of us fell for it.

We were told that we would be free of the yolk of England and that our oil was going to make all our dreams for a free Scotland come true.

There would be milk and honey for all, foodbanks would close, university education would be completely free, the education of our children would once again be a benchmark for the rest of the world, our NHS was in safe hands.

But what has happened in the past 10 years of SNP is far from that.

Just what has the SNP achieved? We still have foodbanks, Aberdeen is in freefall losing jobs and livelihoods, our young are not being educated, our NHS is failing, and foodbanks are multiplying

Nicola has managed to get her face in the papers, umpteen selfies and news every day.

We have street signs in Gaelic, we will be able to see much more Scottish and Gaelic programmes on the TV. Just what is needed in Scotland... not!

EVERY year, Carers Scotland organises a Carers Parliament for unpaid carers and former carers from across Scotland.

The event includes opportunities for carers to share their experience and make their views known on important policies and speaking with politicians and policymakers.

This year’s event takes place on November 2 in Edinburgh.

Carers can apply to take part in the ballot for places by visiting https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/CarersParl2016.

The ballot closes on August 12.

We cover expenses, including any replacement care or childcare needed to attend, and would encourage carers in Glasgow to take part. They would be very welcome!
