Re parking cuts for staff at new hospital (Evening Times, August 6): Permits are issued to staff of all grades whose work requires them to work between hospital sites in the course of a shift.

My wife is a nurse who, as part of her job, has to attend clinics and wards throughout NHSGGC, including QEUH, Gartnavel, GRI (where her NHSGGC permit is not valid), Stobhill, RAH and IRH.

A permit does not guarantee a parking space as there are still not enough spaces for permit holders.

As she often travels around 2 or 3 hospitals in a day, she spends a huge amount of her time trying to find parking spaces, isn't always successful and often parks some distance away from the hospital.

Only those requiring to travel between sites are eligible to apply for a parking permit, regardless of grade.

In addition, the general public frequently ignore the parking signage and park in staff permit holder spaces.

That's not a judgement, it's just a fact.

In response to the Queen Street tunnel works being completed early (Evening Times, August 6) Big Wow. One day early (for some services).

Let's hope that there is not the usual myriad of cancellations when it reopens due to the lamentable excuse of "A shortage of train crew" as both the individual Queen St to Anniesland (from Sunday) and Queen St to Falkirk Grahamston (from Monday) services are due to return to High Level next week.

Saturday's (as per the temporary/tunnel closure timetable) combined Anniesland- Springburn - Cumbernauld - Falkirk Grahamston service was, yet again, totally withdrawn and abandoned, as it has been, almost in its entirety over the past week and far too often throughout the whole period of the tunnel's closure.

In relation to the article about Sauchiehall Street's decline (Evening Times, August 5) Thanks for highlighting this issue affecting the whole of Glasgow.

Visitors to our shops are disgusted as Glasgow's so shabby and dirty, they can't believe Glasgow's oldest street is in such poor condition with so many empty units.

Investment must be spent on repairing pavements and buildings, replacing public bins etc.

A public enquiry should be held into why Glasgow City Council landlord City Property LLP's units are suffering rot which is threatening our businesses and Glasgow's image as a mecca for shoppers.

Re backlash to Andy Murray flying Team GB flag at Olympics: Bit harsh on Andy Murray he is a sportsman in a sporting environment not a political activist .He is representing the UK at the Olympics so has no choice but to carry this flag Whether you like it or not Scotland is part of the UK.

I am for Independence for Scotland but wouldn't criticise anyone holding this flag in the right environment.
