Scandalous payment

SNP, the party for the people. Aye right! Now Alex Salmond is claiming £30,000. relocation expenses. (Evening Times August 10)

I’m sure several removal companies would have moved him from Bute House for a couple of grand.

Who approved this scandalous handout of taxpayers money?

Not only does he receive his MSP salary plus any other monies as a past First Minister but no doubt uses the “company” time, like his successor and other SNP colleagues to write weekly newspaper columns. no doubt for financial reward.

Welcome to the political gravy train.

Prestwick rail link?

SO, they are thinking of spending £144 million on a fast track rail link from Central Station to Glasgow Airport but, even then, passengers will have to change at Paisley.

It may sound a bit silly on my part but what is wrong with investing in a high speed express rail service from Glasgow Central to Prestwick Airport?

It already has a rail link from Glasgow Central, it is not built in a congested area, has loads of space for expansion, does not suffer fog or ice, is only a half hour from Glasgow through the most beautiful scenery, world famous golf courses, a boon for tourists getting their first sight of Scotland, no changing at Paisley.

It seems to me to be a no brainer, but then no one has ever accused our illustrious leaders of having brains.

Not all guilty

READING about the abuse of blue badges in Glasgow (Evening Times August 12), anybody knowingly allowing their blue badge to be used by someone else should have it withdrawn, not confiscated.

But people should consider that not all disabilities are visible. Yes, there are a lot out there who are abusing the system and will eventually be caught.

You need to meet various medical criteria.

In the case of the young drivers in mobility cars, any mobility car holder can have two named drivers and is not necessarily the person who has the car.

Again, the criteria to get a mobility car is dependant on which award of PIP you get, and that is decided by medical.

Please do not assume that everyone you see using a Blue Badge is the holder, they could be collecting the badge holder.

In this event, they are allowed to use the holders badge to park.

Rife abuse

I’M pleased to hear that some of these Blue Badge cheats are being dealt with.

I’m all for helping those with genuine difficulties, but abuse is rife.

I used to work in the city centre and the vast majority of vehicles parked near us had blue badges.

I observed many fit young people emerge from their cars in the morning and cross the road to their work enjoying a day of free parking.
