When one man operated bus services were introduced the slogan was "fast fares, no change given". This suggested an efficient and speedy service. However, although the Almex system in use on First Bus services has no problem with money it is quite a different matter when dealing with concession tickets.

The machines are very temperamental and it sometimes takes a driver four or fives attempts to scan concession cards.

In many other cities both here and abroad cards can be scanned without presenting them to the driver on a machine outside the cab.

Could First Bus not introduce a similar efficient service here or would we be better off with conductors or clippies?

When will Nicola Sturgeon get on with running this country? Schools are falling to bits hospitals are getting shut down, our police force it nearly collapsing and still she goes on about independence. You were elected to run this country. Get on with it and leave your egoistical ambitions at home.

I’m disappointed that the Police Scotland uniform is to include the Muslim hijab. Scotland’s police service should be strictly secular. That this appears to be done in the name of ‘diversity’ is worrying. Of the six Muslim police officers working in Police Scotland, none of them wear the hijab either on or off duty.

Scottish Police Muslim Association's chairman Fahad Bashir says he is delighted Police Scotland is taking steps to ensure the organisation is seen to be inclusive and represents the diverse communities it serves across Scotland. I agree. But does he think LGBT people will be welcoming officers that publicly wear their religious affiliation on their heads, a religion that is diametrically opposed to their lifestyle? Or equally pious Hindus, Buddhists or Christians who might prefer religious affiliations to be set aside in any delicate discussions with police.

It is absolutely disgusting and despicable that people who are being assisted abuse ambulance staff. It should be an automatic prison sentence, minimum six months until these muppets learn the lesson. Firemen also come in for attacks and abuse nowadays as well and the same sentences should apply.

A law should be introduced to prevent these attacks on emergency service staff......and it should also apply inside hospitals.
