Regarding your story about hospital parking, as a nurse working at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, I'd have to leave the night before at 11pm to start my shift at 7am using public transport. I then would not get into the house until 9.30pm after my 12 hour shift.

The car is the only feasible option for me to have a relatively quick commute without spending four hours stoating about Partick Bus Station, which the travel app suggests I do.

Shift work is hard enough without this carry on.

Also, remember that many staff did not choose to move to Big Betty's.

Not everyone can just take a stroll through Kelvingrove Park with a vanilla latte to arrive at their bank job for 9am.

People have been moved from hospitals 20 miles away from where they were before and they need to drive.

I have a family member who works at the hospital and we also used to live two streets away from it.

Glasgow City Council are bringing in a controlled parking zone, which will stop people being able to park in the surrounding area and leave the car there during their shift.

The lack of car parking spaces for staff means those who need to travel to work by car and who haven't been given a permit are risking being given dozens of parking fines a month for trying to get to their work.

Glasgow City Council is also trying to close the car parks outside the hospital grounds that up to 600 staff have been using.

Also, there are issues with safety of female nurses walking to their cars alone after a back shift and being followed and some have been attacked, all in an area that had several sexual assaults about 12 months ago.

Congratulations to Rosemary Donaldson, the head teacher of Lochview Nursery School.

Making it to 40 years in any profession is a great milestone but to do it and still have passion for your job is really impressive.

I worked in Easterhouse about 20 years ago myself and it was a hard place to be.

I was pleased to see these young nursery children get such a fantastic start in life.

Well done, Mrs Donaldson, and good luck for your retirement.

Evening Times reader Alex Saville's letter regarding motormouth Farage is a bit confusing but, nonetheless, if he is trying to compare Farage and Sturgeon for integrity I know who I would choose.
