READING about the need for new hotels in Glasgow (Evening Times September 22), do they need to build new hotels?
Not so long ago there was a plan to demolish the abandoned Central Station Hotel until someone applied sense and re-opened the hotel as a … hotel.
With the same attitude, there must be abandoned buildings in Glasgow which could be brought into use as hotels.

THIS is very positive news!
More hotels in Glasgow will be very good for tourism to our city all year round.

THE Westergate building has been an eyesore for too long and will be a good move for a hotel to take up residence with Central Station just across the street.

READING about the woman from Bishopbriggs detained by the Israeli authorities during a charity mission (Evening Times September 22), so much for Israel’s claim to be ‘the only democracy in the Middle East’.
A peaceful human rights advocate is detained, treated like a criminal and prevented from visiting friends living under decades of illegal occupation.
This ‘open and welcoming’ state is actually barring and deporting anyone who dares bear witness to the brutal daily treatment of Palestinians.
103 have been killed since the start of 2016 alone by Israeli forces. Imagine it was your family. And remember also the severe restrictions imposed on Palestinians wishing to travel in or out of the West Bank and the prison camp that is Gaza.
We should all be voicing our deepest humanitarian concern and showing solidarity with the Palestinian people, just like Margaret.

READING about the plan to stop prostitution, drug use and rough sleeping in city centre lanes, I counted 11 beggars on Sauchie hall Street including a young lad complete with two dogs, various bedding and a shopping trolley.
He was sitting in an empty shopfront next to BHS on Wednesday afternoon.
The street is a disgrace to Glasgow.
