Clean it up...

READING about the fly-tipping problem in Garnethill (Evening Times, September 23)... if you ignore the danger you deserve the disaster.

This fly-tipping behaviour has been going on for some time in Govanhill and no one in Glasgow has helped the decent residents of Govanhill so small wonder the bad practice is spreading to other areas.

The last thing that Garnethill wants to do is work with the council, tell them to do their job otherwise they will continually say “we understand and we are working in partnership with the local community”, it’s called engaging with the stakeholders.

Glasgow City Council just do your job and ensure a clean environment – that’s what we pay you for.

Talking rubbish

THIS “enforcement” that Frank McAveety talks about is total tosh.

Govanhill is a disgrace because of individuals discarding household rubbish anywhere apart from the bins. The council know who the main perpetrators are but have done nothing about it.

However, their community wardens were keeping Govanhill beautiful by issuing fixed penalties to people who were dropping fag ends as they were easy targets.

If it wasn’t so serious it would be laughable.

Money madness

READING about the MP who uses a budget hotel to keep his expenses down (Evening Times, September 22)... the money saved by this guy will only be claimed by some other with their snout in the trough.

When I worked, my wages were spent on things like rent, TV licence, gas, electricity, hire purchase, food, clothes and I walked or cycled to work.

Why do we need to pay for everything for these people e.g. tv licence? Just what do they do with their wages? Summer holidays? Air miles? Frequent traveller discounts?

It was not so long ago the members of this grand gravy train claimed there would not be lavish expenses claims like London. Oh, I must have missed something.

Just go home

WE are paying for him to stay in a hotel in Edinburgh – the guy lives in Glasgow.

I believe that there may be a transport link between these two cities, correct me if I am wrong!

Pay your way

WHEN I’ve worked away from home my accommodation costs came out of my pay packet.

I don’t see why well paid MPs should be any different.

The Glasgow MSPs could car share and practice what they preach.

I’m sure wee Kezia and Mr Mason would enjoy sharing the ride.
