The scrapping of the 4A service in Kelvindale (Evening Times, September 27) is disgraceful. It is a life line for many residents who are unable to walk the hills to get to the train or Maryhill Rd or Great Western Rd.

It would cut folk off from the West End shops at Byres Rd too. It was bad enough when Stagecoach chopped the G2 bus.

Re First Bus getting rid of the Kelvindale Bus (Evening Times, September 27) it is more moaning from First Bus. Now they are blaming the drop in passenger numbers for the cuts. However, it was less two weeks ago when Alex Perry, Interim Managing Director of First Glasgow said on a report by transport 'expert' Professor David Begg, and blaming congestion for the fall, said : “Sadly significant falls in bus patronage are often portrayed as being primarily due to the actions of the bus operators.

“However, this report lays bare the significant impact congestion has on our city and on bus passengers."

Bus services receive 44% of their funding from the taxpayer, who in turn, have no say in the matter, and the SNP supports them, but not us. But I'm sure we will hear SNP MSP, Bob Doris in the media trying to 'save' this service. He should try speaking to his own party and convincing them. Here's an open question for Bob Doris: "Do you support bus deregulation"?

Anxiety and depression can be disabling, as one in ten adults experience an anxiety disorder which impairs their quality of life at some point.

As we approach World Mental Health Day on 10 October, the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund is seeking to help working age RAF veterans and their family members who are experiencing psychological troubles such as depression, anxiety, low mood, panic attacks or stress.

Per Ardua ad Astra is the RAF’s motto; through adversity to the stars. Yet too often, the adversity of anxiety, stress, and depression can be overwhelming for proud RAF veterans and their families and can sadly compound other issues that might also be present. The Fund is the RAF’s leading welfare charity and wants to help all those in the RAF Family who are in need. That is why we have partnered with Anxiety UK to offer free services and resources, such as counselling and other talking therapies, to the RAF Family in need.

As we mark this year’s World Mental Health Day, we’re sharing the message that help is at hand. RAF veterans and family members, age 16-64, in need of support should call 0844 334 1550 or email rafsupport@anxietyuk.org.uk.

Well done to the Green Brigade and their other fellow supporters of the Parkhead club for organising a foodbank for poor residents (Evening Times September 27).

It's great to see that the legacy of their club is continuing. It's just a pity that it has too!
