Mass littering
TODAY my son came home from school
telling me that it is environment week this week and his assembly was all about the importance
of reusing, recycling and reducing and not littering.
Such a shame that the day before Glasgow City Council and The Great Scottish Run organised a mass littering of the city by giving out single-use plastic bottles to the tens
of thousands of runners which were then
tossed into bushes, gutters, parks and footpaths and will not doubt, when the council gets
around to cleaning them up, end up in
landfill.
Right on message. Doh!

Air too polluted
READING about the levels of air pollution in Glasgow (Evening Times October 4), it’s that bad in the city centre I saw a Chinese young student with a pollution mask on.
Think about what pollution levels are like in some parts of China – she comes to Glasgow and has to wear a mask.
You get a sore throats and eyes just walking about it’s so polluted.
Also, how can they possibly say the levels
are still too high but we are making improvements?
By the time they get around to it people’s health will be seriously affected.

Ban all parades
READING about the government report into
relations between the Orange Order and
authorities, (Evening Times October 4) it’s
time to drag our country into the 21st
Century.
All these parades no matter of which hue should be consigned to the history books.
Why should councils be forced to waste money and the rest of the population be inconvenienced just so that the bigots amongst us can have a day out?
If they want to gather and celebrate their perceived superiority let them hire a park or a football ground.

Let children be
REGARDLESS of who or whatever side of the divide, in my opinion ALL marches should be banned as in these modern times the ordinary people of this country do not need this thrust upon them.
I saw one parade where there was a number of children involved and obviously had this thrust on them through the parents.
Leave kids to be kids and stop this nonsense. We don’t need it or want it.
