Welcome news

FURTHER investment for rejuvenating and regenerating Easterhouse is very welcome news (Evening Times September 28)

As a major local employer, we are proud to be part of this strong and determined community.

Since we opened 12 years ago, we have witnessed a real change and injection of optimism in Easterhouse and the surrounding areas. Capitalising on this and helping to make lives better for those who live here, as well as increasing the size of the community, is vital to ensure individuals, groups and business continue to thrive.

We work with our stores and local employment agencies to channel opportunities to the local community, with the majority of our more than 2500 staff hailing from the local area.

We have also been delighted to work with a number of fantastic community initiatives which are making real tangible differences to the lives of people who can thrive with additional support.

Glasgow Fort is delighted to be part of the Easterhouse success story.

Litter shame

GLASGOW’S litter shame is still a reality.

I saw a dead rat on Kenmure Street outside Glendale Primary School this morning.

If parents aren’t dodging daily dog crap at school gates, now it’s vermin.

Time soft-touch Glasgow City Council got tough on tossers and foulers.

Blinding lights

IS anyone else fed up being blinded by the high intensity LED lights fitted to new cars?

These things are a menace.

Parking madness

READING about the U-turn over hospital parking (Evening Times September 5), the health board seems to be divorced from reality.

They are expecting people who have all the overheads of running a vehicle, and find it necessary for use in their private life ,to pay for public transport to and from their place of work, and walk to and from bus stops in the dark, in inclement weather, and at dangerous hours of the day and night.

If the surrounding streets can’t handle the traffic generated by the new hospital,it was obviously built in the wrong place.

Hospital disgrace

THIS whole hospital situation has been dragging on since the hospital first opened, and has become a disgrace and an embarrassment to the country.
