Put Scotland first

NICOLA Sturgeon informs via her Evening Times column (October 18) “But only 6% of people who grow up in care go to university.”

Scottish taxpayers pay £27million a year to fund the free university education of more than 13, 312 EU nationals coming to study in Scotland.

First Minister, by granting finance and university places to EU students you’re denying and depriving a huge number of our own children, their deserved opportunity to go to our universities. Why are you short-changing our own children whilst subsidising EU migrants?

Apprentice back

IN theory, I was really pleased that The Apprentice is back on tv for a new series. However, I knew when I saw the new contestants, I would be raging on hearing their nonsense!

They didn’t let me down. On show one, the following was said by the new superheroes…..

“I’m the business equivalent of a diamond. If you’re not careful, I could cut you.

“I’m an emperor. A true leader. A country is not enough. A continent is not enough. I’m after the world.

“All I’ve ever been interested in is having as much money and power as I can.

“The sheer energy I am going to bring is going to mimic a nuclear explosion.”

I gritted my teeth but really enjoyed episode one and how Lord Sugar gave them what for!

Shameless Nicola

NICOLA Sturgeon has no shame whatsoever.

What is so sad is that the country politically, and economically is in such a sorry state.

She continues with her diversion rhetoric taking the attention away from the true facts that are destroying this once proud nation. We have the highest deficit in the EU that would automatically disqualify us from even getting into her beloved club, but instead she continues to embarrass us.

Unite backing

READING about Unite criticising the threat to the 4A bus service (Evening Times October 20), it’s good to see the union getting involved.

It is undoubtedly true that the key issue here is deregulation.

The bus company is virtually free to do whatever they like, with SPT having few real powers to influence their decisions.

People’s lives really will be adversely affected by this move, especially the elderly.

I talked to a lady at the bus stop in Cleveden Road the other day who was in tears.

It is heartening to see that there has been cross-party support for this issue, from the SNP, Green, Labour and. Conservative politicians. The online petition has gathered almost 3,000 signatures

Thanks are due to the Evening Times which has covered this issue most extensively.
