Barras tradition must live on

I was having trouble finding some hardware items that I have been looking for when a friend said ‘try down at the Barras’.

I went down last weekend and it was quieter than I remember, but I was surprised by how many traditional shops there were in the area and how helpful they are. I’ve not had personal service like that in years.

I found everything I wanted in Pearsons. I was told they have been trading in the area for over 65 years and its still being run by the same family.

I hope regeneration programmes for the Barras come to fruition. It would be a shame to lose these very special traditional retailers.

Road markings plea

I would ask that the Glasgow City Council please re paint all the road markings at the Hillington Roundabout.

This must be one of the most used roundabouts in Glasgow. It is very busy most of the time but at the weekends traffic can be a nightmare, and that’s before the festive season traffic starts.

From this roundabout you have access to the M8, Renfrew, Govan, Ibrox, Hillington, Cardonald and Braehead. It is bad enough for drivers who use it on a regular basis trying to get into the right lanes but for drivers who are not familiar, it is an accident waiting to happen.

Planning joy

With regards to the story about Tunnock’s winning planning permission to extend their Uddingston factory, this sort of situation makes me laugh.

There’s a factory already there and they want to extend it. Is it that much of a hassle to have a temporary traffic problem whilst its being built? Think of the alternative.

Tunnock’s could close down leaving a massive abandoned factory, leading to an eyesore and when the council knock the place down and build some houses there will be construction and traffic problems.I’m so glad Tunnock’s have won this pointless fight

Help blaze flats

Something needs to be done immediately in Priesthill.

These poor residents must be terrified to shut their eyes at night in case they get burnt to death in their beds. It is totally unacceptable.
