Give dog a bone

THE dog given a medal for service in Afghanistan (Evening Times November 16), humans who join the forces do so in the full knowledge that they put their lives on the line.

Animals like this dog are simply used and put in danger they know nothing about.

Great he prevented deaths but to him it was all a game!

His medals mean absolutely nothing to him, a bone would have been a better reward.

Not great CCTV

READING about the family of missing Janet McQueen wanting her home for Christmas (Evening Times November 16), obviously the recent expensive “state of the art” CCTV installed in Govanhill isn’t as sophisticated as claimed by the council when it was eventually installed, far later than originally planned.

I sincerely hope she is found safe and well.

Let kids be kids

READING recently about children as young as three struggling with gender identity, when I started primary school in 1947 there was a boy and girl, twins, in my class.

The girl was tough as nails, very boyish with a penchant for beating up the boys in the school and playing football.

The boy was clever, quiet spoken, showed no interest in football and preferred to read and sit quietly at playtimes not mixing with the wilder boys at all.

Nowadays someone would come along and tell their parents that the boy should have been a girl and the girl should have been a boy.

In those days no one found their behaviour odd and they just got on with being the way they were.

Many years later at the dancing one night a really handsome boy asked me to dance. He said he recognised me from primary school - it was the male twin.

When I enquired as to his sister I was informed she was happily married with two sets of twins.

What I am trying to say is why can’t people just let the kids be as they are without putting them in boxes of gender issues until the children themselves find out what gender nature and the children want it to be.

CIC may close

READING all the stories about the threat to close the Centre for Integrated Care in the Evening Times during the past week, the CIC is a nice idea but with budget restraints something has got to give.

If it’s a choice of closing this or Lightburn, this has to go.
