Parade farce

JUST wondering why Glasgow City Council allowed an Orange march through the city centre on Saturday.

The city is full of Christmas shoppers and visitors from elsewhere yet the city has to be subjected to this farce just a couple weeks before Christmas.

I’m not biased and don’t feel that all these types of parades should be banned for ever but I am certainly not pleased at seeing this on the run up to Christmas with the city buzzing with shoppers.

Empty buses

I ALMOST choked on my dinner reading Monday’s headline story ‘The city is heaving with empty buses.’

In Union Street this morning there were, amongst others, three number 2s in a row with about 10 passengers between them.

Glasgow can regulate car usage in the centre but not buses, as this is Holyrood issue.

The majority shareholders of our largest bus company are big contributors to the SNP.

Go figure!

Buckfast shame

AFTER a visit to a disappointing George Square I was more than disappointed to see Mulled Buckfast on sale in one of the

eating outlets.

Is this the image we want to be giving visitors to Glasgow?

No to EU

HOW does Bill Beckett know it was people who threatened Gina Miller who were in favour of leaving the EU? (Evening Times letters December 12).

The EU is run by a elite group of left wing fascists who listen to no one.

I never voted for any of them so they can beat it.

More police

READING about the police being armed with body cameras to target shoplifters (Evening Times December 12), there are five policeman in the one area, how many are on overtime?

I live in Tollcross and I think I have seen five police all year!

I was in the town doing some Christmas shopping and the police and wardens are falling over themselves.

It’s time to spread the love. There is plenty of work for the wardens in the outlying districts.
