READING about the review into health services following waiting times (Evening Times December 22), perhaps they've deliberately lowered the standards in almost everything so that come the next elections they can show an improvement.
I do admit this displays just how cynical I am about such an incompetent government but I wouldn't put anything past this crew.
Last week it was education, yesterday it was A&E, today it's the police in crisis.
Where is this all going to end? Or rather will it ever end?
If this government is the best we have to offer, we should all be worried, be very worried indeed.

THIS year has been yet another extraordinary year for The Boys’ Brigade in Scotland.
I’d like to say a particular thanks to the 4,000 plus volunteers of all ages who helped make BB events and activities happen throughout the year.
As an organisation we offered in excess of 50,000 hours of youth volunteering with just under 1500 young people alone getting involved.
Thanks to these volunteering opportunities we’ve seen members grow in confidence while learning new skills, all helping to develop a new generation of active citizens, something I’m extremely proud of.
It’s not just been the volunteering which has seen great success. 450 BB young people achieved the Queen’s Badge, 150 earned their Duke of Edinburgh Awards and two of our former members competed in Team GB in Rio.
I’d like to wish everyone, including all friends and families that have supported the organisation over the years, a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Our demented first minister is now blaming the UK government for charging the Police Scotland Authority VAT (Evening Times December 23).
When the SNP decided to scrap the Scottish police forces and make it one authority they were warned this would mean incurring VAT.
They ignored this in their desperation to get their nationalist theme promoted.
So please First Minister stop passing the buck.
