Reconsider plans

AM I the only one to see the stupidity of the Cordia hierarchy and their plans to add 300 new employees to its home care workforce? (Evening Times February 1).

This will incur extra costs for the services offered by Cordia as the training of the new staff will have to be paid for as will additional uniforms and iPhone scan training.

These costs could be avoided if this organisation would offer more tailor made packages to their existing employees.

I am all for creating new jobs but not if it means stampeding over the rights and conditions of already well trained employees.

I think that Cordia should reconsider their plans to increase the home care workforce and instead concentrate more on their catering and crossing patrol services offered in the city’s schools and other public buildings.

Decision made

I HAD to have a wee laugh at “P D Wilson” in Evening Times letters February 2.

He points out that he agrees “that the people of Scotland have a choice between self government or being ruled by Westminster”

I think “P D” should pay a visit to his GP for loss of memory.

I was positive that the people of Scotland had ALREADY made that decision.

Cyclist danger

I WAS so sad to read your headline in the Evening Times (February 1) about the closure of Greaves Sports shop on Sauchiehall Street.

The only people who seem to use this pedestrian precinct are cyclists whizzing by with no regard for anyone and no one seems to care.

It will be only a matter of time before your headline will be of a report of serious injury to an elderly shopper or child.

More free parking

READING about Watt Brothers calling for lower parking costs in the city centre (Evening Times February 2), this is one of the last old traditional shops on the street and Willie Watt is bang on with his assessment of the whole issue.

I recently needed a set of crystal glasses.

Watties of course, but not Sauchiehall St - Clydebank Shopping Mall, free parking.

Brilliant news

READING about the first swimmers using Govanhill Baths in 16 years (Evening Times February 2), this is brilliant, and I know people in Govanhill and Strathbungo have worked tirelessly to make this happen!
