Remove Sheriff

READING about the thug who attacked a woman on her way to get a bus (Evening Times February 16), just how serious a crime do you have to commit before you receive a custodial sentence in Glasgow?

This moron attacks a defenceless woman in the city centre at 6:10 am threatens to kill her and receives 250 hours of unpaid work.

Sheriff Kelly should be a social worker and should remove himself from the bench immediately.

Unimpressed

READING about the SNP’s alternative budget for Glasgow (Evening Times January 17), breakfast clubs are a waste of money, bin replacement is a waste of money, and how many years would it take to recover the cost of LED lighting through efficiency savings?

I don’t think we need a community fund or to spend £19 million on playgrounds.

If these are the SNP’s grand plans for Glasgow I’m unimpressed.

Empty promises

YESTERDAY it was Labour promising 100,000 jobs in 20 years time but at the same time ignoring the steady loss of jobs that automation is forecast to inflict.

Today we have the SNP promising a wonderful new city and an extra £200 million of spending in their budget.

You’d think there’s an election around the corner the amount of promises being made.

And remember SNP, breaking any of those promises you’re making makes the election result null and void.

Council election 2 at the first broken promise is the rules the SNP have now set themselves.

I want a £454 million refund for the Commonwealth games in one of your manifestos - they were of no real sporting value and the legacy even less so.

Just go to Tollcross international swimming centre and you’ll find the true legacy - the pools closed until October.

A council controlled by the people of Glasgow, not a political party is what Glasgow really needs and more independent candidates is the answer.

Time for change

I ABSOLUTELY commend the SNP for bringing forward a vision for Glasgow that’s based on what can be achieved with a £2bn budget.

It’s time for change in Glasgow - I’m not suggesting that the SNP have a silver bullet for the challenges the city faces - but pursuing the same failed path isn’t working.
