Congratulations to Laura Young, your new Scotswoman of the Year.

What a worthy and deserving winner.

This is a wonderful event and I love hearing the inspirational stories every year of both the runners up as well as the winner.

It makes me want to go out in to the world and do something amazing.

People make excuses for not getting on and fixing an injustice they see - time to stop making excuses and get stuck in.

Mooboo Bubble Tea asking potential employees to work for 40 before being given a job - or not - is a disgrace.

I can't imagine they are the only one though.

In fact, many places use unpaid trials before they commit to taking on staff.

Often they don't give the person a job but just abuse their free labour.

Students are at risk of this. And who to complain to?

It's appalling and should be stopped. Hopefully the more people who come forward to complain, the more likely something is to be done.

With regards to the businesses complaining about paying a £1000 fine for not have a TV licence, if I have to pay for a TV licence then so have you.

Strangely enough it is the law just like all the other laws you have got to obey in the business world.

If, as the article says, they are used purely for background noise then get a wireless.

I may get slated for this but I think the free bus pass scheme should be means tested.

Fares need to be fair for everyone.

It costs me almost a tenner when I want to take my kids on a day out and I get crazy looks when my child is sitting in a seat from older people.

I even had one old person click their fingers and demand my child stand but I'd just paid fortune in fare when she used her pass to go two stops and is likely sitting on a fortune.

I have had people shout abuse at me for having a bus pass.

The last one was shouting that I was the reason this country was in a mess giving people like me (I don't think he meant good-looking educated women, as he was pointing at my wheelchair) a free bus pass.
