READING about the cuts to councils in Scotland (Evening Times March 7), is Nicola Sturgeon the new Thatcher?

So much for the boast yesterday by the Greens that they helped to ensure another £160 million was made available for councils!

The Greens should hold their heads in shame by getting into bed with the SNP to allow these cuts.

They are both to blame.

When will the people of Glasgow realise the SNP are more interested in financing their vanity projects like Edinburgh`s festivals and museums.

Sturgeon is always talking about how she hates Thatcher because of the legacy from de-industrialisation she left. What is Sturgeon`s response to this? Cuts to councils since 2011 which, according to the ET, have been worse in Glasgow.

No wonder the age expectancy in Glasgow has failed to rise for the first time since records began while the level of inequality is increasing (Scottish Government figures June, 2016).

This also means pensioners in areas like Glasgow will not live long enough to claim as much as people in more affluent areas.

This contributes to the cycle of poverty. This shameful neglect by the SNP might be their legacy.

Unacceptable

IT was appalling to see on the news that a headteacher in East Renfrewshire had been assaulted by a pupil (Evening Times March 3).

I am employed in a mainstream primary school by Glasgow City Council as a support for learning worker.

We face many challenges each day and are assaulted on an all too regular basis resulting in many of my colleagues having to take time off work because of their injuries.

Something has to improve before a serious incident occurs.

Task Force failure

READING about the new ‘smart’ bins coming to Glasgow (Evening Times March 7), the Environment Task Force is a failed initiative.

It took me five months and two formal complaints before they eventually cleaned the mud off the local pavements.

Empty bins

THE council is obsessed with the city centre as usual. How about getting the bins in other areas emptied instead of installing so called "smart" bins that will be vandalised.
