WHY do we not speak up more?

When Donald Trump says something offensive against women, people take to the street here in Glasgow to protest, when the Westminster government does something we disagree with, we rally and protest.

So why, when people in our streets and communities are getting burgled, abused, attacked, have their property stolen and their loved ones taken from them through violence, do we say nothing?

We are so quick to voice our discontent to our leaders, but with the exception of terror attacks, we don’t stand up and say enough is enough to those in our communities whose actions cause us so much frustration, pain and heartbreak.

Snap decision

THERESA May has told us a dozen times that she would definitely not call a snap election but she has.

She is telling us that she decided on the election last week walking in in Wales, not on the basis of the polls but because she needed a mandate.

She talks about concern for “Just About Managing “ families but in fact her policies go the opposite way.

The best example last week was the revelation that most refugees are sent to less well off areas where councils are already struggling with cuts.

Meantime the SNP demand another referendum for independence but have delayed taking newly devolved responsibilities for some DWP benefits for three years as they are “not ready”.

If it takes three years to prepare for half a budget for a small country, how long will it take to prepare for full independence?

'Shirking' MPs

I HOPE someone reminds Nicola Sturgeon that this is a general election and not a referendum vote.

I will not be voting SNP as their last action at Westminster was to abstain en masse.

I do not vote for people who shirk their responsibility, they were voted in to oppose the Tories at every possible opportunity.

Great Hoosewives

I HAVE just returned from a brilliant night at the Pavilion Theatre Glasgow and all thanks to The Evening Times as I won tickets.

The Hoosewives were great! It was an absolutely wonderful show, we split our sides laughing and, being Glaswegian, I did see similarities in the Hoosewives and my own circle of friends.

Thanks again.
