I NOTE that should the SNP win a majority of the Glasgow City Council seats in the forthcoming local elections, they propose to extend the Subway to the north and east of the city (Evening Times April 17).

What about the west?!

Surely a Subway from Paisley to Buchanan bus station would make much more sense, calling at Glasgow airport, Braehead, the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Govan Cross, Central station, and Queen Street station.

Perhaps they could just hire the boring machine from Scottish Water when they are finished with it?

Or is this just another pie in the sky idea like the one Labour proposed in 2014 for the Commonwealth Games.

Public confusion

I UNDERSTAND why Theresa May has called a General Election on June 8 but, instead of making her position stronger, might she be in danger of losing her popularity as well as confusing the public?

After all the recent elections the political map is becoming more and more difficult to understand and, whatever the outcome on the day, it will only add weight to Scotland becoming an independent country.

Beggars belief

THE lecturers in Glasgow were out on strike yesterday because the college management has reneagued on their promise of March 2016, when a pay deal was agreed.

Despite having been given the money from the Scottish Government, the college management want to insist on cutting the lecturers holidays and adding extra hours of class contact.

The EIS had already offered to teach an extra three weeks during term time which the management refused.

This is coming from a management which is heavily over-structured with directors and a principal who is currently in Australia.

It beggars belief that these people, who do not teach at all, accuse the lecturers of being “money grabbing” and “doing damage to the students”.

Displays working

I WENT to a well-attended meeting in St Stephen’s Church, Bath Street, concerning Glasgow’s transport.

Strangely enough, the bus destination displays were operating on my way there and back. Not all the info was correct.

It will be interesting to see how long this display will feature.
