Bike Theft Shame

I read your story about the thefts of Next Bikes.

I live near to one of the bike stations and see the bikes being vandalised quite frequently.

It seems to be young boys - and sometimes girls - with nothing better to do with themselves.

These bikes are a great thing for the city as we want people to be healthy and to be outdoors while seeing everything Glasgow has to offer.

So the people who damage the Next Bikes should be ashamed of themselves.

I hope police do all they can to chase them down and stop this happening.

M8 Link Relief

It’s about time the M8 ‘missing link’ has opened.

Imagine it being 2017 and everyone is excited about an effective motorway link between Scotland’s two biggest cities.

We shouldn’t be grateful to the Scottish Government - we should be angry that we’ve had to wait this long.

I am a daily commuter from Glasgow to Edinburgh so this will be a huge benefit to me and thousands of others like me.

I think of all the hours I have wasted in traffic queues on the M8 and I am glad those days should hopefully be behind me.

Pollok Pride

Pollok House is one of Glasgow’s greatest jewels and so I was appalled to read that vandals had smashed some of its windows.

It is hard to comprehend that someone would do such a thing. Vandalism is always appalling.

But at such a beautiful place as Pollok House? I don’t even have the words.

Food For Thought

A beer festival, an ice cream festival and a cheese festival?

I hate to be a killjoy but is Glasgow not gluttonous enough without all these new stuff-your-face opportunities?

You can see the disregard for exercise when our NextBikes are stolen.

There should be a festival of getting people outdoors and active not encouraging people to eat things like Buckfast cheese.

City Must Vote

I’m pleased to see the Evening Times cover issues affecting Glasgow ahead of the local elections.

They are being overshadowed by the General Election.

And people must vote.
