WELL done and congratulations to Gary Cuthbert on losing nine stones (Evening Times May 2).

Keep up the good work, just remember not to go too ‘skinny’, but you look great.

Fan gives us hope

READING about the Rangers fan who helped out a Celtic supporter who got on the subway which was packed with rival supporters (Evening Times May 1), gives us hope.

My experience of using the subway to get home after a Rangers V Celtic game, I boarded the subway at Copeland Road to travel to Partick. The train stopped at Govan Cross to pick up passengers then all the windows were smashed.

The driver to his credit had the sense to drive away from the platform.

It was a terrifying experience and happened in 1968.

Nothing has changed since then, if only it would.

Intimidating mob

I HAVE real sympathy for the Subway staff who have to deal with this mob every other week.

I have witnessed workers being abused for things that are obviously beyond their control.

At times the herd mentality is genuinely intimidating.

Well done those involved here for acting the way decent people should.

Good example

WELL done to the ‘Gers fan here.

I’d like to think there’s plenty others who would do the same (and Celts too)

There’s big rivalries all over the world - we’re not unique here - once the game's over get on with it.

Nothing wrong with helping an opponent - many would say it shows true strength and character.

Fair play to the Gers fan.

No pain no gain

READING about the three months of disruption on the railway (Evening Times May 1), this is a long-overdue upgrading and electrification of the last remaining diesel-operated routes in central Scotland, with hopefully more to follow, eg East Kilbride / Barrhead - Kilmarnock - Troon, Maryhill - Anniesland / Westerton and Glasgow Crossrail in the west.

The old adage of “no pain - no gain” applies here in full and equal measure.
