WITH reference to Anthony Martin’s letter (Evening Times May 8), replacing the previous Glasgow City Council Real Time Information system, SPT recently completed an upgrade of over 300 electronic bus information displays across Greater Glasgow and beyond.

The new regional system operates using the latest software and communications technology.

Where bus operators have installed the necessary bus location equipment, ‘live’ countdown departures are shown, otherwise scheduled departure times are provided.

SPT understands that First Glasgow are due to install the necessary equipment in 2017, allowing the new system to provide ‘live’ departure info for the majority of services across Glasgow.

SPT continue to work with our partners to extend Real Time Information provision across the region.

This includes 10 displays shortly to be installed in the city centre, including Union Street, as part of a wider improvement programme being undertaken by Glasgow City Council.

Worse times

IN reply to Alex Orr (Evening Times May 10), a most interesting take on the SNP.

I would however ask Mr Orr why we should vote for Ms Sturgeon’s party when under her stewardship the health service, the education, unemployment and housing have got worse!

I would also ask Mr Orr if, as he hopes Ms May would sanction “another” referendum, should the general election not transpire as he thinks, would Ms Sturgeon do the honourable thing, forget about a referendum for at least five years and get on with looking after the urgent needs of the people, or perhaps resign?

Bright future

REGARDING Pauline McNeill’s plan to extend free bus travel to 16-18-year-olds (Evening Times May 10), hasn’t she heard that her Tory PM Mrs May is on course to end free bus passes down south along with ending the triple pensions lock?

Meaning more cutbacks all round.

Our ‘Scottish’ unionist parties should simply unite themselves and stop all this nonsense of pretending to have a different agenda to Westminster rule.

With Corbyn set for a hammering south of the border prepare for another 20 years of Tory misrule.

Austerity Mark2 coming big time.

When the horror hits the rest of us, cuts cuts and more cuts, the choice will be ours...remain a second class province of London or grasp the freedom of independence.

Time it well Nicola, the future is bright when we strike out on the freedom road!
