On your story about the closure of the sick kids ward at Royal Alexandra Hospital: whether we like it or not, medical services have to be centralised to provide best care.

It may be unfortunate but the distance from Paisley to Glasgow is negligible.

What about those that have to travel over 100 miles or more?

Given that the NHS is a devolved matter one would have to ask if the MSP for the area has got themselves involved in the Royal Alexandra Hospital sick kids ward issue or is the NHS once again being used as a political football?

What our politicians ought to be arguing for is more meaningful public consultations to proposed NHS changes as it seems that far too many decisions are a fait accompli.

Health Ministers ought to ensure greater public involvement - not less - in the decision making process: a process that should be totally transparent.

With regards the mass to celebrate the success of the Lisbon Lions: I went to the primary school that was attached to St Mary's Chapel.

It's long gone now, as is the church hall where Celtic was founded.

But it's great that such an inclusive service is taking place here to mark the greatest achievement in the history of Scottish football.

Following yesterday's shooting: regretfully Glasgow is hitting the headlines for the wrong reasons.

I hope the victim recovers sufficiently to be able to assist Police Scotland in tracking down his attacker.

I'm beginning to think we need another Lord Wheatley or Lord Carmont on the bench at Jail Square to deal mercilessly with those engaging in crime with firearms.

Glasgow is a great city and I hate to see its name besmirched by these miscreants.

I was so heartened to read about all the donations coming in for Bellrock Nursery.

Children in Cranhill don't all have a lot as it is a deprived area so to steal from those who have little in the first place is appalling.

I hope the publicity also stops it being targeted in the future.
