IN response to Labour candidate Pam Duncan-Glancy (Evening Times May 29), people aren’t fed up with the prospect of a second indy referendum!

Far from it, offers us a chance to rid ourselves of the Tories once and for all.

Kezia Dugdale has stated she would rather have the Tories, elected on English votes, run Scotland than independence.

May is lining up to be even more divisive than Thatcher. Planned death taxes, dementia taxes, bedroom taxes, cuts to disabled benefits, the removal of the winter heating allowance.

What next, taking our bus passes away?

Local problems

GIVEN the problems of people drinking, littering and causing anti social behaviour around central station, how does the current city council and government hope to tackle the terrorist problem when they can’t even solve these local issues?

Holyrood mistake

WESTMINSTER’S biggest mistake was allowing a Scottish devolved parliament.

On paper, it was a wonderful idea.

A way of appeasing the anti English fanatics and giving them a little control over the things that affected only Scots.

But the whole principal of the idea fell apart when Alex Salmond hijacked Holyrood for his own ends and made it the SNP unofficial headquarters.

Instead of working WITH the UK government to better the lives of Scots, Salmond used this new found power to tear the country apart in his quest for independence.

Their only goal is independence at any cost. Independence at a time when Brexit should be the main topic. Independence when Northern Ireland is on the verge of returning devolved powers to the UK.

Wales happily works alongside its Westminster counterparts. Only the SNP are divisive.

Now is the time to get rid.

Fight proposals

READING about the opponents against an apart-hotel in the West End (Evening Times May 30),

I hope the residents get great support against this proposal which is a get rich quick for developers.

I don’t think anyone would welcome the prospect of hen and stag parties as well as weekend lets on their doorstep.

That's what this would be about.

It is an extremely quiet area where residents have invested heavily in their properties and I think they should fight it tooth and nail.
