READING Susan Aitken’s column (Evening Times June 6), we have rough sleepers regularly dying on our streets of Glasgow and this is an issue that can no longer be ignored as our homeless numbers soar.

Temporary accommodation is another issue that must be addressed urgently amongst other problems.

The whole social housing policy needs to be reviewed and updated in my opinion.

Homelessness shames Glasgow.

Too disengaged

HAS there been a more disengaged prime ministerial candidate since the old patrician Tories like MacMillan?

May is awful, her contempt for other humans is palpable in the expressions of disgust she displayed ‘interacting’ with state school children and of course in her social care policies which are utterly dehumanising - how can people not see this?

Hidden policies

THERESA MAY can’t speak to ordinary voters without reverting to botspeak, and Ruth Davidson sends out campaign leaflets that don’t mention a single Tory policy and just attack the SNP.

She knows that when people realise exactly what policies the Scottish Tories stand for, the Scottish electorate will be much less likely to vote for them.

We have a mostly compliant media who won’t challenge the Tories up here, so when you mention something like the rape clause to people they haven’t got a clue what you’re talking about.

When they find out, they’re appalled.

On the up

READING about Nicola Sturgeon saying the oil and gas industry in Scotland is still a great success (Evening Times online June 6), she’s quite right, things are just beginning to pick up nicely on oil and gas.

The next £44bn in tax revenues won’t be squandered in the newly independent Scotland, unlike the last billions wasted by Westminster.

SNP to win

I just hope many of the ET readers have learned the meaning of democracy by Thursday and on Friday will accept the majority of Scottish people are very happy with the SNP.

And we still want no part in this Brexit disaster.
