SUSAN Aitken uses the term “City Government” three times in her first Evening Times article as leader of our Glasgow City Council.

Does Ms Aitken and her party think this new and alien expression makes them sound more dynamic?

Leave the American style of terminology aside, Ms Aitken, and concentrate on delivering some of the many promises made before the local elections.

M15 responsible

I READ that one of the London terrorists was known to the police.

This may well be but I’m sure he’s been known for other criminal activity, not terrorist links.

The police throughout the UK depend on the secret service - MI5 or MI6 - for information so in all honesty our police forces throughout the UK are not responsible for the lack of security.

The most highly decorated services are responsible as they are the ones with the so called intelligence who feed our police forces.

The boiling point is thanks to Theresa May for having this happen.

Many lives have been lost through her previous cutbacks in our police and security services .

Frequent failures

HARDLY a week goes by without some major failure of Network Rail’s ‘creaking at the seams’ infrastructure affecting services to/from Glasgow Central (and elsewhere).

Yet again it’s ScotRail which has to take all the ensuing flak and face the wrath of irate and frustrated commuters!

For example, today we had overhead line problems between Central & Cardonald.

On June 3 it was signalling issues at Central, May 26 was signalling issues at Newton and again on May 16.

May 9 it was signalling issues at Central affecting East Kilbride/Cathcart Circle.

Questions left

NOW that the Craig Whyte trial is over two questions need to be addressed.

Why was this ever brought to trial, what purpose did it serve? It certainly doesn’t appear to have been in the public interest.

Now that the evidence has shown that the ‘wee tax case’ had ‘crystallised’ prior to the granting of a Rangers European license, despite denials, what investigations and sanctions will be taken against those in the SFA who knowingly breached UEFA rules and subsequently lied when asked about when they knew about the tax liability?
