READING about the proposed £7m transformation of Sauchiehall Street (Evening Times June 12), anybody who has ventured into the street knows how dangerous it has become.

If you don’t trip over the “homeless” or the beggars, you have to dodge the cyclists who think the pedestrian area is their personal speed track.

Then there are the potholes, the badly fitted or loose paving, and of course the chugger gauntlet.

Sort that all out and you might actually improve the area at minimal cost.

Just a quick fix

THERE is too much short-termism from our city council.

Focus on Sauchiehall Street and Buchanan Street will be neglected and join Argyle Street, Jamaica Street, Union Street and Trongate which have all been badly neglected.

It’s too little too late, and if they do not accommodate car parking in their plans out of town centres will continue to thrive whilst the city centre collapses.

Sleepless nights?

IT IS obvious that the unionist parties in Scotland decided to make Indyref2 their one and only tactic during the election to bash the SNP.

The thought of Labour minded folk voting Tory makes me sick.

Do they readily put to one side the knowledge that this is the party which brought in the bedroom tax, treats disabled people appallingly, and is responsible for the rape clause?

How do they sleep at night?

Another election

I WONDER how many Labour supporters decided to vote Tory to keep the SNP out?

They helped elect enough Tory MPs to block Jeremy Corbyn forming a Government.

As for those who were desperate to block a second Independence Referendum, we now are probably landed with another General Election in the near future!

Ban diesel traffic

READING about the ‘giant trees’ to be installed to battle pollution (Evening Times June 12), so instead of banning the polluting diesel buses and cars, and reducing traffic, the council comes up with a solution which makes them look good but will make almost zero impact on the traffic fumes?
