CONGRATS to Sir Billy Connolly on his knighthood, another Celtic man as a knight of the realm.

Crikey there will be a royal box soon at the big prefab there are so many links with our Royal family.

Well done Bhoys.

Not so friendly

SITTING in a pub in Union Street just facing Central Station, on Saturday a group of six males gathered outside and started singing and shouting outrageous sectarian songs and slogans.

This was 12.30pm in the afternoon and families with children were sitting just feet away in the pub having a meal.

Members of staff were seen laughing and joking with this group of morons when they should have been calling the police, whom, I should mention, were nowhere to be seen despite the recent announcement of increased presence.

Is this the city that we are always boasting about as being so friendly and welcoming or is it just another myth that we have been pedalling like the Loch Ness monster?

Upgrade required

READING about the £100,000 upgrade to Drumchapel pool (Evening Times June 19), no doubt the improvements will be welcomed, but is it really going to be ‘transformed’?

It seems like it is just bringing it up to a minimum standard you would expect with things working.

Fantastic staff

THE story about the decision on the future of Lightburn (Evening Times June 16), it’s a shameful situation.

The pensioners that attend this hospital are going to struggle to get to the Royal Infirmary or Stobhill, especially if they are taking cars or getting dropped off.

The staff at Lightburn are absolutely fantastic, on all levels and the patients ALWAYS come first.

Rangers 'serious'

IN my humble opinion I don’t think it will be that long before Rangers will be serious competition for Celtic.

Celtic won’t go undefeated next season that’s for sure and of course it’s going to take time for these new signings to gel.
