Clean up needed

I was interested to read your article on the clean up taking place in Knightswood.

Not to take away the good work done by the pupils of Knightswood Secondary and others, but Knightswood is a large area.

I would like to know when Lincoln Avenue will get a clean up.

As neighbours we cut the grass verges outside our homes and sweep the pavements and gutters.

This avenue has also become a race track and although the police and council have been informed, nothing has been done to address this problem.

I am afraid the list goes on but issues are ignored by the authorities.

Good luck Liam

It was lovely to read about Liam McInteer who promised his gran he would never miss a day of school.

They sound like a lovely family who have produced a really lovely boy.

Let's hope he carries his success through to secondary school.

It certainly sounds like this young man has a very bright future ahead of him.

Gerry a loss

I was saddened to read of the death of Depute Lord Provost Gerry Leonard.

He was a community champion and always wanted the best for his ward.

Hospital history

I enjoyed reading your article about the history of Belvedere Hospital.

You mentioned that it had been a maternity and a geriatric hospital after it was an infectious disease hospital.

It was also a cancer centre that was under the management of the Beatson Oncology Centre.

There were Chemotherapy wards, a Radiotherapy Department and a Clinical Trials Unit as well as a Clinical Physics Department.

The clinical trials unit took part in drug trials on new cancer drugs some of which have now been licensed and are now being used to treat cancer patients.

Bridge help

All bridges over the Clyde where people jump from, or contemplate suicide must have The Samaritans notice upon it.

People must be reminded they do have a choice, and they can always phone and ask for help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
