Parking woes

TODAY I received a letter from Glasgow City Council telling me I will now have to pay for the privilege of parking outside my own house, where I have lived for nearly 20 years.

Why is it if I lived a short underground journey away in Govan I would get it free but not in Patrick?

How is this fair?

Step change

For years Glasgow City Council was criticised for allowing Glasgow's streets to be taken over by huge processions in mid-summer with the resulting inconvenience to citizens and embarrassment to the reputation of the city.

We thought this may change with a new administration and forward thinking ideas but afraid to say we were so wrong.

Shopping misery

Regarding your story saying Shettleston Road among the worst shopping street in the UK: so people would much rather open shops in the wealthiest parts of the UK than the poorest parts of the UK?

I would never have guessed that in a month of Sundays.

What next, the rich spend more than poor?

The mind boggles as to where this could lead.

Shops need help

Glasgow has become like any city in the UK: just the same boring shops, no originality, no difference, quality or taste.

It's the big name brands that have killed all individual shops.

Grim city centre

I've never seen Sauchiehall Street look so bad.

It's filthy, music blaring out of tourist shops that look like any other cheap and nasty place.

Pound shops galore and it lacks any type of class. Your ears get blasted on a Saturday.

It's not a pleasant shopping experience anymore and Glasgow City Council should ban the loud speaker thugs as it would put anyone off shopping in the city centre.

But hey ho, they don't give a toss.

Sauchiehall worst

I'd say that dubious honour goes to the now dirty, run-down Sauchiehall Street.
