ABOUT 54 years ago, newly wed, we bought a nice flat in Govanhill.

It was then a really nice area with all the amenities and shops, anyone would be happy to live there.

Now, the area has deteriorated to such an extent that it looks like a slum in some third world country.

It seems that no one can get round the table with the view to doing something about it.

The really worrying thing is that this area is Nicola Sturgeon’s constituency, so it begs the question if she finds it impossible to deal with Govanhill’s problems, what makes her believe she is capable of dealing with Scotland’s problems and, even more, concerning representing Scotland in the Brexit negotiations.

Idiotic boot ban

SO Rangers manager bans his players from wearing green boots as ‘they are the colour of Celtic’! it was reported at the weekend.

What an idiotic thing for a so called intelligent person to dream up.

He is obviously playing to the gallery and trying to ingratiate himself with the perceived ‘traditions’ of the club.

I suppose finishing second by a distance of 39 points was because some players wore green boots!

Will they ban red boots next as that is Aberdeen’s colours?

Nonsense

I’M appalled at watching a programme on students studying to be doctors with no place to do so here in their own country.

They have to travel to Belgium or some other country to study and learn yet this government are accepting medical /doctors from other countries to work/treat here in the UK.

'Rabbit' stores

READING about plans for a new Tim Hortons in Silverburn (Evening Times July 3), these things are multiplying like rabbits.

There’s a new planning application in for another Tim Hortons on George Street across from the Premier Inn hotel at Strathclyde University.
