REGARDING Glasgow being ordered to clean up its act over "silent killer" linked to 300 deaths a year, it is time Glasgow does have trams back again, and the work for this must start as soon as possible.

Just look at Manchester, Sheffield, Croydon, Birmingham.

They have all got tram systems, so why not Glasgow. It is very disappointing that we in Glasgow do not have trams. It is a must we do get them back to help cut pollution from other road traffic. There are far too many buses, cars, lorries and motor cycles. Trams are a real must now. I want to see Glasgow with trams by 2017.

Following on from your story that subway passenger targets short by 500,000, if SPT want the numbers up, why don't they look towards London for the answer?

An Oyster Card down there is prepaid, and it can be seamlessly used to travel on both buses and the tube.

Provided you have topped up your card, there is no reason why you can't travel from, say, Heathrow on the Piccadilly Line to Piccadilly Circus, then change onto a bus to go shopping on Oxford Street, and then home again.

I'm sure visitors to Glasgow would find such a card handy, whether they use it as a one-off, or for the duration of their stay. By prepaying, these visitors save a wee bit of money that they may likely spend elsewhere.

I AM waiting for another accident to happen at the junction of Jamaica Street and Howard Street in the city centre. I have seen on many occasions when the green light is on at this junction, cars can still turn left in from the Jamaica Street to go to the nearby car park.

This should be highlighted to warn pedestrians to take care and drivers to see the green man and to stop.

ONCE again we read about another closed up school being set on fire, putting lives at risk due to asbestos being release.

Why don't councils demolish them right away so these people can't set fire to them.
