Regarding barricades finally being installed to block off a doorway which had been used for public drinking, drug abuse, urinating and defecating in Argyle Street at the Heilanman's Umbrella, three things spring to mind.

Great stuff, why did it take so long to do this, the situation has been known about for months. Why has the derelict building lain empty so long. Can't anyone effectively market this building in one of the busiest locations in Glasgow. If this area has been an epicentre of anti-social behaviour in the city centre why are there eight phone boxes at the corners which are unsightly and obscure the views of CCTV,... simple get rid of them.

I feel it is necessary to correct "An SNP reminder", in Tuesdays Evening Times. I am old enough to remember these events and recall how angry and disappointed my late (STUC) father was when "Gentleman" Jim Callaghan was let down by some of his own party.

Regards the night bus driver dropping the passenger off at home, nice one Derek.

This action could only happen here in Glasgow.

A most kind act of a "true" gentleman:

The parable of the "Good Samaritan", comes to my mind.

If the Labour Party need the Scottish vote to carry them into power at Westminster, is it any wonder that they were so keen to support the no vote in referendum.

This is possibly why Jim Murphy has been 'shoed-horned' in as Scottish Labour Party leader and why he had hopes to oust the incumbent SNP in 2016.

I wonder how much back pedalling there would have been had the Yes vote carried and Scotland was independent.

Great to see an even bigger and better line up for the Magner's Festival returning to the Kelvingrove bandstand this year.

It was certainly brought back to life during the Commonwealth Games and I am delighted to see that it is continuing to be a thriving community site.

Let's hope it goes from strength to strength.
