I READ your article on learner drivers finding it tougher to pass the test in Glasgow (Evening Times, December 2).

There are more than a few drivers across the UK that would fail the exam too.

Examples of bad driving I've witnessed recently include people turning without indicating, trying to "undertake" articulated lorries clearly indicating to turn left while positioned in the right-hand lane, to allow for the swing of the trailer.

Others include driving in low-light conditions using sidelights, fog lights switched on when visibility is clear, revving engines at pedestrian crossings.

Don't even get me started on those muppets that think they are so good at driving that they consider it safe to drive while holding a phone.

Forget ANPR cameras - get traffic cops to enforce the law more rigorously.

Tax shame

REGARDING one in five councillors paying their council tax late, is this the same bunch who cried for a salary of £25,000, plus expenses of various kinds.

Maybe we kind council tax payers should pay it for them or even make councillors exempt, as after all they do work for us. Kick the scheming lot out.

Hole new issue

LOOKING at your picture on the Memories page of Argyle Street, do any other readers notice there is not one pot-hole in sight (Evening Times, December 2).

Is it because of the cobbles?

The council should have left them.

Quality diet

I READ your article regarding more and more people now being overweight (Evening Times, December 3).

Maybe one problem is the kind of foods they can afford to buy.

We need to help people get a basic quality diet for the future emotional and financial health of this country.
