During the summer we heard from Councillor Gordon Matheson and others that Glaswegians would benefit greatly from a legacy of top class sports facilities after the Commonwealth Games.

The true legacy is now showing itself at the Tollcross International Swim centre, where the latest swim timetable shows a reduction of 60% in lane hours available for workers who want to swim between 7 and 9am. There are no cutbacks for swim teams who train during these hours.

The council appears to have forgotten that the workforce pays the taxes that paid for the pool.

The council should be urgently promoting increased swimming amongst this adult group instead of cutting back on pool time for them.

Mall expansion

Why does Buchanan Galleries have to expand?

I see the mall turning the rest Glasgow city centre into a ghost town.

Open more outlets in a mall and the stores on the street will close.

The Royal Concert Hall is another bone of contention. Leave our city's buildings alone.

We don't need more shops or cinemas, we need to revamp the ones we already have.

Alex is a star

The last First Minister's Questions was lighthearted. And credit to Alex Salmond, who managed to wipe the floor with his interrogators thanks to his preparation and his wit.

I wish him well.

Horse attacks

I was disgusted to read (Friday) about horses having their mains and tails hacked off.

What kind of person would do such a thing?

I hope they are caught and the book thrown at them.

Shopping war

I Didn't know whether to laugh or cry on seeing Sainsbury's new Christmas TV ad.

Even if it does raise cash for charity, it seems insensitive to use the First World War to flog more groceries.
