Regarding the planned Buchanan Galleries expansion, I really hope this doesn't go ahead.

If it does, Sauchiehall Street will see a further exodus of retailers, leaving the famous thoroughfare to charity shops and empty spaces.

The city has a huge amount of empty shops already, the last thing we need is more shops.

Ace for city

the fact the Commonwealth Games brought in a £280m tourism boost is good news - but let's hope that is just the tip of the iceberg.

We must act on the success of the Games to ensure that Glasgow stays on the world map.

Hosting the first round of the UK Vs USA Davis Cup tennis at the Emirates Arena is a step in the right direction. Let's hope many more similar events follow.

Euro fare deal

IT WAS a good idea by First Bus to let fans to pay fares in euros before and after the Scotland Vs Ireland match.

When I come home from holiday, I always have euros left over, so what would be the harm in us being able to use euros in the UK?

You can pay in different currencies on credit cards at Duty Free tills - so they obviously recognise the benefit of allowing customers that freedom.

It might be time to embrace the euro more - considering we are just across the water from our European cousins.

Cancer cash run

IT was shocking to read that four people an hour will be diagnosed with cancer in the future.

Having just lost a friend to the cruel disease, statistics like that really brings it home to me. It is wonderful that so many people turn out year after year for various events such as Race for Life. Cancer is something which we need to keep fundraising for until we find a cure.

For the sake of my friend, and the many thousands of people going through the disease, next year I will be pulling on my running shoes to help raise much needed cash.
