GLASGOW showed its true side over the weekend when it came together to donate to the city's foodbanks.

The friendly, welcoming city, that we know and love was back and thinking of ways to help other people.

The bags of food, while a sad reflection that they are required in this day and age, showed just how caring the people of Glasgow really are.

New era

YES prevailed in Glasgow, North Lanarkshire and West Dunbartonshire and came close in Inverclyde.

The political landscape of the west of Scotland has changed.

The Labour party stood shoulder to shoulder with the Tories, the rich and the bigots.

When Westminster promises do not come to fruition (and they will not) they will reap what they have sown.

Scottish Labour will no longer be an electable party in Scotland.

Pain is starting

GORDON BROWN says promises will be upheld but he can't deliver them in the timetable proposed because the three stooges will never get their promises through parliament.

The Yes campaign is hurting but so are many more in England who have woken up to the threat to their union.

Prepare for the backlash. The real pain is only just starting.

Stadium role

GOOD news Glasgow will be hosting four Euro 2020 football games at Hampden Park (Evening Times, September 20).

The stadium was put to good use during the Commonwealth Games and can shine again.

Honour is due

I WAS delighted to see your article (September 18) on the host city volunteers being honoured at a ceremony.

These, along with the Clyde-siders, were the people who made the Games great.
