in view of the Scottish Government's proposal to take Prestwick Airport into public ownership, I was pleased to read Councillor Gordon Matheson's support for Glasgow Airport.

Perhaps now, after the recent announcement by the Government of the huge savings made on the budget for the Queensferry crossing, he might request the restoration of the Garl project - or has that money been earmarked for yet another Lothian/Edinburgh project?

Change of name

Now that Prestwick Airport is coming under public ownership, its name should be changed to Robert Burns International and the awful 'pure dead brilliant' logo should be painted over.

Prestwick boasts of having the only railway station serving any airport in Scotland but, if you are trying to catch an early morning flight or arriving on the last flights in at night, guess what? No connecting trains - no option but to travel by road.

I actually prefer flying from Prestwick rather than Glasgow, and would not like to see it close.

Profits chop

As a business owner in the Merchant City, I cannot believe that the whole of the city centre was closed to traffic last Saturday for the kids' Great Scottish Run.

Not only did this cause severe disruption to traffic but it also cost businesses like ours vital revenue.

Would it not have been be more prudent and less disruptive to have staged the kids' run in Glasgow Green instead of closing the whole of the city for the entire weekend?

Bus lane fear

RE. the latest row over bus lane cameras. Has the council answered the question of entering a bus-lane to give-way for an emergency services vehicle been clarified?

Do you stay/stop in the outside lane, or give-way by going left into a 'bus-lane.'
