I WOULD just like to wish Johnny Beattie a very happy retirement.

He is of the true Scottish showbiz legends and I will seem odd not seeing him on our screens.

I remember seeing him at Ayr's Gaiety Theatre many years ago and he took time out to say hello to me and my pals.

There are certainly not many like him anymore.

Good luck Johnny.

It's going to be a long few weeks until we reach D-Day for the general election.

After the leaders' debate, I already have election fever overload and I don't know how much more I can take. Does anyone really change their mind on who they are going to vote for after watching these events. I think it might have been slightly different when it came to voting in the Indy Referendum, but when it comes to voting for specific parties in an General Election or Scottish Parliament I think most people stick with their long held views.

Good to see more European flight links are being added. Budapest is a welcome addition and I think airport and travel bosses should be continually looking a new routes for passengers.

So often people think nothing of flying out of the likes of Manchester or Newcastle for better flight links.

However, if we had even more choice it might not be a case of Scots travelling to England for flight connections, but people in the north of England travelling to Scotland for flights. It might have a spin off not just for the airports, but for the nearby hotels and airport parking companies. It's time to think big and think outside the box.
